It’s officially been a year since the last DoP Deep dive into new UX patterns and it was recently confirmed by Google’s CEO that some of the patterns featured in the previous edition have proven to be pretty successful.
“Circle to Search” has grown 40% vs the previous quarter, while visual searches using Lens have increased by 5 billion since October 2024.
But this week it was also confirmed that Google Searches in Apple’s Safari dropped for the first time ever and when faced with a potential existential threat, companies are increasingly willing to take punts on bold UX bets that may otherwise have never happened.
In this DoP Deep dive, we’re going to take a look at a brand new set of over 25+ UX patterns and interactions that have been introduced by leading companies since the last edition.
These include new interactions like using screenshots to perform actions, swiping to invoke AI, the use of generative AI in dynamic UIs as well as broader design trends like hyperpersonalization, glassmorphism and neobrutalism. These examples have all been hand picked based on new feature announcements, day to day usage and commentary from users who have expressed opinions about these new UX changes.
