🔒Chartpacks are in-depth analysis of the data and trends you need to help you make stronger strategic decisions. If you’d like to upgrade to receive them you can do so below. Or you can find out more about paid access here.

Hi product people 👋,

As we start a new year, it can be a little overwhelming to keep up with the various end of year lists and predictions for the year ahead.

Back in December we explored some global trends worth knowing about, but for this Chartpack we’ll instead hand pick a couple of consumer trends that could help you shape your own product’s strategy, with a strong emphasis on social, teen and consumer behaviours.

We’ll also take a look at some of the most relevant developments in security and privacy which could help you when you’re assessing important user journeys and authentication options for your product.

Coming up:

  1. Social media use: how it’s changing

  2. How teen and younger users are using the web

  3. Emerging new hardware in 2024: Vision Pro and AI devices

  4. Security and privacy: user behaviour and new security trends to be aware of

  5. Pinterest consumer trend predictions for 2024

Social media use

Social media behaviors are changing. Gone are the days where users would mindlessly upload every aspect of their lives and instead, people are starting to think twice before posting on social media.

61% of adults recently surveyed say they’ve become more selective about what they post and younger age groups (gen Z and millennials) are impacted the most.

When we look more closely at younger cohorts, we can see that YouTube is still the top destination for younger users, but social media usage overall is declining for some products.
