The “vibe coding” trend is still going strong. Sure, it’s ultimately just a type of glorified prompting but if anything, the transformative impact of AI on SaaS companies seems to be accelerating. Some vibe coders with no prior experience have even managed to clone entire SaaS products like Docusign and Xerox from scratch.
We’re not going to go as far as that today, but since it’s now much easier to build simple apps from scratch, I thought this might be the perfect time to think about how mini vibe coded apps might be useful to product teams in every day life.
So in this Knowledge Series, we’re going to build some mini apps together that you can use at work. And as part of this, we’re launching a DoP Mini App Library. The library will be a place where all of the mini apps created in this and any future Knowledge Series will live so that you’ll be able refer back to them, copy any prompts and remix your own versions of the apps we create together. All apps are designed for product teams and tech workers. More mini apps will be added over time.
We’ll kick this off with our first batch of apps by building an OKR tracker that assigns tasks to team members, a productivity tool with a difference and a fun roulette style wheel to help you decide who should present your next demo so that all team members can showcase their skills.
Coming up, use AI tools to build:
An OKR tracker with weekly goals assigned to each team member
A pomodoro productivity timer with a tech twist
A roulette wheel that decides who will demo or present in weekly meetings
OKR and weekly goal tracker
This first mini app is designed to help you to keep track of your company’s OKRs and your team’s weekly actions.
Here’s a quick snapshot of how it looks:
And here’s a more detailed overview of how it works:
Overall, this mini app does a pretty good job of keeping track of both your company’s overall OKRs and your team’s weekly goals - ensuring that your weekly goals link back to your company OKRs.
The functionality included in this first version of the mini app includes:
Set and edit company OKRs
Track progress of OKRs from 0-1 with percentage representations
Edit team names and team members
Add comments to each weekly task
Assign weekly tasks to your team members that explicitly relate back to OKRs
Analyse who is doing what with analytics graphs that let you easily keep track of your team’s progress
Export progress data to import into other applications
How to get this mini app
All mini apps are available for paid subscribers. You can either grab a copy of the version already built or you can use the suggested prompts to build your own from scratch. We’ll go through each of the steps involved.
